What we collect, and what we don't.

Last updated

The short version

We collect what you type into a form, or say to our AI assistant, so that we can reply to you — and nothing else. There are no cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking of any kind on this site. We have never sold anyone's information and we are not going to.

01 What we collect

What you type into a form

Every contact form on this site sends the same handful of fields, and that is the whole list:

  • Your name — so we know who we're talking to.
  • Your email address — so we can reply.
  • Your phone number — if you'd rather we called.
  • Your business name — so we can look at what you already have online before we answer.
  • Your business address — asked only by the longer form, because a local listing is tied to an address.
  • Your message, and which services you ticked if you used the services menu.
  • Which form you used — a hidden field saying whether you came from the contact page, the bottom of the home page, or the chat. It helps us know which part of the site is doing its job. It says nothing about you.

There is also a hidden field that a person never sees and never fills in. Automated spam bots fill in every field they find, so anything submitted with that one filled is discarded without being read or delivered.

What you say to the chat assistant

If you open Digi Dude, the chat bubble in the corner, whatever you type is sent away to be answered and then comes straight back to your screen. We don't keep it. There is no chat database here, no saved transcripts, and nobody reading them afterwards — the conversation lives in your browser tab and disappears when you close or reload it.

The one exception is the part you choose: if you ask to be contacted and give the assistant your details, that becomes an ordinary enquiry and goes to the same inbox as the forms above, along with a sentence or two summarising what you were asking about. Section 02 explains who does the answering.

What arrives on its own

Our host records ordinary web server information when a page is requested — the IP address, the browser and device type, the page requested, and the time. We don't have a way to switch that off, and neither does any other website. We don't use it to build a picture of you; it exists so that the site can be kept running and abuse can be stopped.

The chat assistant uses your IP address for one narrow purpose: counting how many messages have come from one place in the last hour, so that a single person cannot run up a bill by hammering it. That count is held in memory for the hour and written down nowhere.

What we store on your device

One thing, and it is not a cookie. When you use the Reduce motion switch in the header, your browser saves a single word —reduce or full — so the site remembers your choice next time. It stays on your device, it is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it.

In plain English

This site sets no cookies at all. That is also why you have never seen a cookie banner here — we don't need your consent for something we don't do.

02 The AI assistant and the AI phone line

Two things on this site are answered by a machine rather than by Stephen. We would rather tell you that plainly here than have you work it out.

Digi Dude, the chat bubble

It is an AI assistant, and it says so when you open it. It can only answer from a written list of facts Stephen has approved — if you ask it something that isn't on that list, it is built to say it doesn't know and offer to pass you to a human, rather than guess.

To write each reply, what you have typed is sent to Anthropic, the company whose AI model does the answering, and the answer comes back. Under the terms we use their service on, what is sent is used to produce your reply and not to train their models. We don't store the conversation at our end at all.

The phone number on this site

The number published on our home page is answered by anAI receptionist — the same product we build for clients, which is partly why it's there. It can answer questions about the business and take a message.

Please read this before you call

Calls to that number are transcribed. The words are turned into text by our telephony provider and the transcript comes back to us, so that Stephen can see what the assistant told you and follow up properly. Treat it like a recorded line: don't say anything down it you wouldn't want written down. You can ask us to delete a transcript at any time and we will.

If you would rather deal with a person from the start, emailadmin@digibusinessbuilder.comor use the contact form and Stephen will reply himself.

03 What we don't do

Worth stating plainly, because most sites do all of it:

  • No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, nothing. We genuinely cannot tell you how many people visited this page.
  • No advertising pixels. No Meta pixel, no Google Ads tag, no retargeting. Visiting this site will not cause our ads to follow you around.
  • No cookies, and therefore no cookie banner.
  • No selling or renting your information, to anyone, ever.
  • No mailing list. Contacting us does not subscribe you to anything.
  • No tracking across other websites.

04 Why we hold it

To answer you, and to do the work you asked about. If you book the free consultation, we use what you gave us to look at your website, your Google listing and your social pages — all of which are already public — and to talk you through what we found.

If you become a client, the information you gave us here becomes part of your client record and is covered by the service agreement we both sign. If you don't, it stays in an email inbox until you ask us to delete it.

05 Who else can see it

A short list, because a small company that runs its own systems has fewer middlemen than a large one. These are the companies whose services carry your message on its way to us:

Vercel
Hosts this website and runs the code that receives your form. Their servers record the ordinary request information described above.
Resend
Turns your form submission into the email that reaches us. Your message passes through their system to be delivered.
SiteGround
Hosts the mailbox that email lands in, the same way any business email is hosted somewhere.
Google Fonts
The two typefaces on this site are loaded from Google's font service, so your browser makes a request to them and they receive your IP address. If that service is blocked or slow, the site falls back to fonts already on your device and still works.
Anthropic
Runs the AI model behind the chat bubble. What you type there is sent to them to produce the reply. Only what you type in the chat goes to them — nothing from the contact forms does, and if you never open the chat, nothing does.
Retell
Answers and transcribes calls to our phone number. This one only applies if you actually ring us.

None of them are given your information for their own purposes, and none of them are paid to profile you. We would also hand over information if we were legally required to — a court order, for instance. That has never happened.

06 How long we keep it

Your message stays in our email as long as any business email does, so that we have a record of what was discussed. Our host keeps its server logs for a short period and then discards them; we don't control that window and we don't archive them ourselves.

Chat conversations aren't kept at all — there is nothing to delete later, because nothing was written down in the first place.Call transcripts are kept, alongside the enquiry they belong to, until you ask us to remove them.

If you ask us to delete what we hold about you, we will, and we'll confirm when it's done.

07 Your choices

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what we hold about you.
  • Correct it if it's wrong.
  • Delete it.
  • Stop contacting you, which we'll do immediately.

Email admin@digibusinessbuilder.comand say which. You don't need to give a reason, quote a law, or use any particular wording.

One rule for everybody

Some places — Europe, California and others — give people these rights by law. We apply them to everyone who asks, wherever you live, because having two standards depending on someone's address is not a policy we want to defend.

08 Security, honestly

This site is served over an encrypted connection, and what you submit is encrypted on its way to us. Access to the mailbox it lands in is protected by a password stored in an encrypted vault that requires a physical key to open.

What we will not tell you is that anything is perfectly secure. Email in general is not end-to-end encrypted, so please don't send passwords, card numbers, Social Security numbers or anything similar through this form — or into the chat, or down the phone line. If we ever need something sensitive from you as a client, we'll ask for it a safer way and tell you exactly how.

09 Children

This site is for business owners and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we'll delete it.

10 Changes to this policy

If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. We won't quietly start collecting something and leave this page describing the old behaviour — that's the failure this document exists to avoid.

A real person reads that address, and it's usually Stephen. If something on this page is unclear or you think it's wrong, say so — we'd rather fix it than have it sit here looking official.
